THE ROMANCE IN CHINA IN THE OLD DAYS

T he Romance of The Three Kingdoms is one of historical novels which have attracted people all over the world over a dozen centuries. The great-scaled story in the age of rival warlords in China 1,800 years ago tells us thrilling strategies with all schemers' brains,heated,smoldering fights between brave generals,and their attractive characters. Nowadays through different medias--novels,movies,animations, and so on-- we can entertain the dramatic story. This old story,amazingly,doesn't fade a bit to learn.What they think,what they say in the story can move us,filling us with feverish feelings. This work could be called a human fortune, with each character's lives described. The story begins to set in the late of the Han dynasty period,when their authority becomes corrupt by eunuches' despotism and by riots through the land. Men surge to the metropolis from provinces,in hope of capturing authority. Heated rivalry finally devides the land into three kingdoms after the dynasty -- Wei, Wu and Shu.The main charcter, Liu Pei Hsuan-te,is the emperor of one Shu. He is from a destitute house, a straw-products maker, but descended from the Han dynasty. He is ambitious,virtuous, and humane, which is why he attracts thousands of soldiers. Kuan Yu Yun-chang and Ch'ang Fei Yi-te contribute to his authority, always close to him like his brothers. And Chu-ko Liang K'ung-ming is a notable staff officer, who serves all his life to achieving Lieu's ambition. The other two emperors are also lion-hearted and skillful in politics. One is Ts'ao Ts'ao Meng-te, who reigns over the largest kingdom Wei. He is a merciless dictator, frightening his people during his reign. But he is excellent in scheming, which allows him to win many provinces more than the rest of emperors. Sun Ch'uan Chung-mou is the name of the rest of the emperors. He is steady and honest,trusting his men and loving his people, who respond to him with an equal faith.Three kingdoms conflict against each other over and over, to win the large continent. All have disappeared at present, only leaving the traces of their achievements. They still now have the power, strong enough to tell us something.
